Experience can replace credentials

If you spent years working in an industry, highlight the problems you know how to solve. A resume focused on results and relevant skills can be stronger than one centered on job titles from decades ago.

Refresh the basic technology skills

Become comfortable with video meetings, shared documents, email, calendars and common office software. You do not need to know everything; you do need to show that you can learn the tools used by a remote team.

Search smarter

Try combinations such as 'remote customer service,' 'remote scheduler,' 'remote inside sales,' and your previous industry plus the word 'remote.' Then verify openings on the employer's own career page whenever possible.

Do not pay for a job

Training courses can be legitimate products, but ordinary employers should not require you to buy access to a position. Separate education you choose to purchase from employment someone claims to be offering you.
